They Can't Stop You

We are in a time where encouragement to reach for your goals and be everything God created you to be, yet there seems to be so much attention and focus on “other people.” We have all seen the posts and probably have even liked a few. You know the ones “Don’t tell people because…,” posts that end with people being able to stop you and talk against what you are doing. I saw several of them posted and reposted and was immediately irritated. I understand not saying something that is in its infancy or while you are building so you can present a completed project and not telling all your business every where, but this seems to go beyond that.

If I am going to be and do everything God has assigned to my life – and I AM – why should I be so consumed with anyone’s negative opinion or criticism of me? If God said it, who are you to stop it? Isaiah 44:6 says, “Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” See what God is saying is that He alone is God. Not you or me, but Him alone. But hold on, there are other assurances of God’s will being unstoppable!

Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” What has God promised that He didn’t perform? I ask you to answer that question thoughtfully. Just because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean God didn’t say it, His timing is also a part of the “bringing it to pass.” God does NOT lie! He fulfills His promises. Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” Now that’s the Promise Keeper!

You know the thing you mentioned to someone you trusted and they filled you with so much doubt that you stopped working and praying about it? Go back to it. Romans 3:3-4a says, “For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;” Them not believe what God told you doesn’t make God a liar nor His Word void. Stop letting “them and they” rule your life. Either “them and they” are your god or God is truly God. The same way you put on their negative opinions, take them right back off. Put back on the God-fidence you had when He spoke it to you.

I am not saying that we don’t all need support or want friends and family to support us for real. What I am saying is that life should not stop if they don’t. I have had to encourage myself many times and still pursue what God has said. I didn’t always know if everyone was going to support, but I did it anyway. I was fearful all the way up to the time of my book signing and guess what? God had those already assigned to show up to remind me of Who He is. I also made sure to speak with those who I knew wants God’s best for me. They are called “wise counsel.” Everybody is not in this group. It is not randomly open for people to join. They don't always stroke my ego. They don't tear me down either. They rely on God to speak to them and through them. It is a weighted thing to speak for God and they don't take it lightly. It helped me to remain accountable and on track to the goal. And there are many goals that I have to reach, that will be manifested in time. I have work I must do while I wait on the promises of God.

So, I want to really encourage you and remind you that if God said it and you see obstacles in the road, keep going. If they talk about you, keep going. If they don’t like you or love you pieces, keep going. If they support you by mouth and not in deeds, keep going. If they are family members who like you, love you, or have ambivalent feelings towards you, KEEP GOING! All this only stops you if you allow it! Know that He Who hath promised is FAITHFUL!
