Rehearsing What I know

During these times of uncertainty, there are a million news reports, articles, opinion pieces, and reposted information that has taken over social media. Some state "repost" as it claims to be from someone somewhere that has first hand knowledge of the pandemic, providing things from ways to self-examine to what the government has done. It is can be overwhelming to know where to turn or who to listen to...unless you are a Christian. Being a Christian does not make us exempt from the laws of the land or from experiencing things in this world, but out hope is set up different. We trust that God is always in control and that no thing catches Him by surprise. We pray without ceasing and stand on our faith that God will cover and keep us. But He has also given us wisdom to live in this world. Our faith and out hope does not mean we live reckless. It means we may choose to self-quarantine as suggested while we pray. Or we may go to a worship service with no more than 50 people that are greater than 6 feet apart while we watch and pray. We also use this time to remember Who God is. We rehearse what we KNOW about God in times like these. He is our Redeemer. (Psalm 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.) He is our Hope. (Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.) He has all power and He keeps us! (Jude 24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.) And that is in no way an extensive list, just a few things that He has been and will always be! So if you are in a panic and not sure what to do, remember Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross for us. Remember how He has shown Himself mighty before in difficult times. Yes, I know mist of is have not lived through a pandemic, but we know that God has been God before He created time. Spend more time in prayer and reading the Bible. There are several translations that you can use as well as electronic versions. Read more books online via kindle, amazon prime, and your local library. God has a way of getting our attention, and I think we are all tuned in now.
